Coming to the “party” a bit late and I don’t see anything on the sites about this, pinky swear. In the interview with Kent Sparks, there is discussion about the absence of information about the Israelites in Egypt (and I had read elsewhere that there is no evidence of Joseph). Dr. Sparks did say, if I heard correctly, that there is a period of time with less information about Egypt (1200 BC – 1000 BC) and I was wondering why that is. My question is this: our own brief history here in the US managed to practically wipe out the contributions of slaves until recent times when we chose to acknowledge them. Are we certain that some sort of revisionist history did not take place in Egypt? I have also seen some hieroglyphics that are said to lend some credence to Exodus (chariots under water). Trying to sort out what scholars to believe is difficult, and probably the reason many fundamentalist-type churches told us to only read the Bible and not any outside sources, aside from Coffman in my faith tradition.
(As a former professor myself, I seemed to be constantly trying to defend my faith in higher education. I looked to textual and historical criticism as well as archeological finds to try to do that, but it seems that is now “passé.” I can’t keep up.)
Thanks for podcast (I think??) 😉
