Have been listening to your podcast since late last year – such a blessing and challenge. Appreciate the work you do. Have been working my way through all your podcast and when listening to Episode 70 (TGC doesn’t really get progressive Christianity), I thought you might appreciate a quote from CS Lewis on being progressive:
The quote is from Chapter 1 of Mere Christianity. The context is a response to the idea that religion is anti-progressive because it’s old; Lewis says that in fact if progress means going in the right direction then sometimes it must mean going back as well.
“We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.”
Keep up the good work.
