Clearly the Old Testament is the principal source document for New Testament writers. The methods they use, such as quotation, allusion, allegory and ideas about ‘fulfilment’, can seem, at times, to ignore the earlier meaning and / or context to arrive at a new understanding. Do you think it is appropriate for succeeding generations, including 21st Century Christians, to handle New Testament texts in the ways that New Testament writers handled Old Testament texts? Thanks
