I recently lost a child. I also work in a ministry that serves asylum seekers (quite literally, the least of these). These have led me to question basically everything I know about God. What does it REALLY mean that God is merciful, loving, a Father, good? It can’t mean merely what we learn in church. In order to prevent a contradiction of biblical claims about God and human experience, it seems we must understand these terms paradoxically. How do you understand these descriptors of God?
