This passage began the unraveling of my conservative Christianity a year ago, and it’s the reason my Calvary Chapel Bible study will never accept my leadership despite their obvious respecting of my ideas during discussions.
Why do you believe Paul wrote these demeaning things about women? Unlike the marital submission passage in Colossians, these instructions do not seem to challenge the status quo or move society upward in any way. What, if anything, does this passage reveal about God?
When talking to people who do not believe Genesis is mythological, how would you suggest I dispute the misogynistic, hierarchical interpretation of this passage? Or would you advise against doing so at all?
