Like, it seems to me that bad theology and poor interpretations happen because they are being done by “normal people” who don’t have a PhD in biblical studies or multiple degrees in ancient Judaism, Hebrew and Greek. How are us “normal people” supposed to keep from stepping on land mines left and right, when the vast majority of us aren’t able to go and get thiE degrees and PhD’s and become “experts” on it? If I just wanna read my Bible, as an uneducated individual, how am I supposed to know that a particular verse is not supposed to be taken literally, because Paul is addressing something that is only relevant to that particular culture? I LOVE the Bible for Normal People but it seems that that is the problem…is that the vast majority of people reading their bibles and trying to implement what it’s saying are just “normal people” who don’t have all the answers. How the heck do we navigate that?!?
How are “normal people” supposed to navigate the super complicated Bible, religion and faith in general, without doing it poorly?
