Hi Pete and Jared!
I’ve hit a low point in my faith. I grew up Presbyterian, attended a non-denominational church in my early adulthood, and until the past year or so had been attending an Assembly of God church. The past several years, God has felt very distant and part of that, I think, is because I’ve become so disillusioned with Christians; the way they treat non-Christians, and the way they treat each other. So many Christians use the Bible as a way to justify poor behavior, oppress others, and everything has become so politicized. I stopped attending church and haven’t been motivated to spend much time in the Bible. I started to wonder if I was even Christian anymore and what I believed. Then, I discovered The Bible for Normal people and have been eating it up and love the content! I am so appreciative of the critical thinking approach and your willingness to examine the Bible from various views, especially as a woman. All that being said, I would like to start going to church again but don’t feel at all inclined to return to the one I left. I don’t know if you’re allowed to give such advice, but would you be willing to share any church recommendations you have? Or how to go about finding a new church that shares similar views as those expressed in your podcast? I live in Philadelphia and know you aren’t too far from the area. Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,
Marin
