Growing up in church I was taught that to be a Christian I had to “believe in Jesus and accept him as my Lord and Savior”. As I’ve deconstructed it seems that there is a tension between belief and faith that was not considered in my tradition. I would define belief as a cognitive knowing measured by statements using logic and faith as more of a way of living measured by actions in trying circumstances. Is there a biblical basis for this distinction and are you aware of any faith communities or thinkers that actively recognize this or a similar distinction?
